Interview with Boca Juniors’ New Star

BUENOS AIRES — SNTV met one of Boca Juniors’ new stars on Thursday (11th February), 18-year-old midfielder Alexis Messidoro.

On 16th January, Messidoro made the headlines when he scored a goal in a 3-0 friendly win against Ecuador’s Club Sport Emelec, four minutes after coming onto the field for his Boca debut.

“It felt like being in a dream. I still don’t understand everything that happened. I imagine it, but I still don’t grasp it. I don’t realise it. For me, it felt like being in a dream,” Messidoro said.

The midfielder moved to Boca Juniors in 2010 from Almagro.

Fans at the Buenos Aires club call him ‘Messi’ but he was quick to dismiss comparisons!

“It is an abbreviation of my last name, nothing else. There is only one Messi and we know he is the best in the world. He is in Spain,” Messidoro told SNTV.

He also outlined his goals for the future: “My dream is first to stay in first division and take advantage of the opportunities that (the club) offers. Then, I would like to get titles, which is what this club requires. It demands that we win every time we play.”
