BUENOS AIRES — Several thousands of government workers marched on February 24 in the capital Buenos Aires to protest against the large wave of layoffs and other belt-tightening policies.
This is the largest strike the newly elected president Mauricio Macri has faced since taking office in December 2015.
Nearly 21,000 public sector employees lost their jobs since the beginning of 2016.
The Association of State Worker (ATE is its acronym in Spanish) and the Argentine Workers Union organized the national strike.
