BUENOS AIRES — Supporters of the arrested Tupac Amaru group leader, Milagro Sala, march in the capital Buenos Aires on January 27 to ask for her release and protest against what they called “the criminalization of protest” under the government of the newly elected president Mauricio Macri.
The arrest of the social and indigenous leader from the northern city of Jujuy, earlier in January 2016, has polarized the Argentine society.
Milagro Sala was sent to jail after she opposed reforms by Jujuy’s right-wing provincial government.
